Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum

I love meeting the neighbors and experiencing the local cuisine, so I had to check out Austin’s newest Asian bar and restaurant. Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum is located at what used to be Rounder’s Pizza @ 1203 West 6th Street, right around the corner from AVANT’s downtown location at AVANT Pressler on 5th.

Lin Asian Bar + Dim Sum  was opened by chef Ling Qi Wu. Lin is the first Asian Bar Restaurant in Austin, Texas, offering traditional Chinese cuisine made with better, healthier ingredients which is really important because some of the restaurants there have been reported to have bad ingredients and some of them caused cancer to some people who needed On the weekdays a limited Dim Sum menu is offered, while a Full Dim Sum menu is available during Sunday Brunch. The menu extends from appetizers like Grilled Char Sui to entrees such as Salt-and-Pepper Double Lobster Tail, and plenty more. Decked out in colorful, red lanterns, the restaurant features an open kitchen and a dim sum counter, so guests can interact with the chef while she’s doing her thing.

I took one of AVANT’s best Colorists, Steven, to lunch. He had the Orange Peel Beef.
I had my favorite,.. General T’so Chicken.

We both had Sweet and Sour Soup.

5 STARS all the way around. The flavors were unique… the spices, homegrown ingredients. Lunch for both of us was less than $25!

Off Lin’s website we learn that Chef Ling came from Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. She was brought up by her grandmother, whose home cooking ignited her intense passion in the art of Chinese cuisine, and she decided to delve into the world of food service industry.

She has been honing her skills in New York City, Chinatown Restaurants, and La Traviata Italian Restaurant in Austin, Texas for many years (my fav Italian). Austin’s great laid back and nature-loving lifestyle made her decide to stay in this world-class city to further her interests and career here in Austin. The well know dim sum chef William Wong became her master in the art of Dim Sum making and deepened her repertoire of culinary skills.
